Publishing System

The journal uses Open Journal Systems (OJS), a free, open-source software for managing and publishing journals, developed, supported, and distributed by the Public Knowledge Project (PKP) under the General Public License (GPL). This provides an integrated system for the submission, review, editing, and publication of scientific articles. The system is intuitive and accessible, ensuring transparency and efficiency at all stages of the editorial process.

Fees and Funding

No fees are charged to authors for submitting or publishing manuscripts. All funding is provided by the Federal Institute of Education, Science, and Technology of Sergipe.

Archiving

The journal's content is preserved through a digital archiving system, ensuring long-term accessibility of all issues. The content is digitally preserved to guarantee permanent and long-term access. We use the LOCKSS (Lots Of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) system to create a distributed archive among partner libraries. Additionally, the journal is archived in the CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS) system, a joint initiative by libraries and publishers that ensures the preservation of academic content in the event of discontinuation, guaranteeing the collection remains accessible to the global community.

Indexing

The journal will be listed in directories, indexes, databases, and academic search engines.

Appeals and Notifications

  • Appeals of Editorial Decisions:
Authors wishing to appeal a decision that rejected a manuscript may submit a formal appeal request. To do so, they must contact the Responsible Editor. Appeal requests will be carefully considered; however, the regular manuscript evaluation workflow will take priority. Therefore, the response time for appeals may be longer. The final decision on the appeal will be made by the Editorial Team, which may uphold or reverse the initial decision. If the appeal is accepted, authors will receive clear instructions on subsequent procedures, including any revisions or a new round of peer review.

  • Notifications:
Notifications may concern procedural failures or publication ethics issues. Notifications related to manuscript rejection should be handled exclusively through the editorial decision appeal procedure.

    • Regarding Editorial Processes: In cases of operational issues (e.g., excessive review delays, communication failures, or inconsistencies in the editorial flow), the author should first contact the Responsible Editor for the manuscript; if there is no response, contact the journal's Editor-in-Chief. Upon receiving the notification, the Editor will conduct an internal assessment. The author will be informed of the measures taken, and the results may be used to improve the journal's editorial practices and procedures.

    • Related to Publication Ethics: Notifications involving potential ethical violations, including author misconduct, plagiarism, data manipulation, atypical reviewer behavior, or actions by editorial board members, will be handled according to the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). For such notifications, the Responsible Editor for the manuscript, the Editor-in-Chief, or the editorial team will analyze the case and take appropriate action, which may include: requesting clarifications from involved parties; review by independent experts; or corrective actions/sanctions, depending on severity.
