AUTHOR GUIDELINES

LUPAA Journal – Laboratory of Urbanism, Heritage, Architecture and Arts

1. Scope

LUPAA Journal publishes scientific works in the areas of urbanism, architecture, cultural heritage, arts, and related interdisciplinary fields, fostering dialogue between academic research, critical reflection, and professional practice.

2. Submission Requirements

By submitting a manuscript to LUPAA Journal, authors declare that:

  • the work is original, unpublished, and not under simultaneous review by another journal;

  • all authors agree to the submission and to the final version of the manuscript;

  • the text complies with the journal's guidelines and standards.

3. Submission Rules

Submissions are accepted exclusively through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform of the journal.

At the time of submission, the corresponding author must:

  • enter complete manuscript metadata;

  • provide the ORCID of all authors;

  • declare funding sources, when applicable;

  • confirm agreement with the journal's editorial and legal policies;

  • attach the main file with no authorship identification, ensuring peer review in a double-blind.

4. Manuscript Structure

Manuscripts should include, where applicable, the following structure:

  • title

  • abstract

  • keywords

  • introduction

  • methodology

  • development or results

  • final considerations

  • references

Texts may be submitted in Portuguese, Spanish, or English.

5. Abstract and Keywords

O abstract deve apresentar de forma clara os objetivos, methodology, resultados e conclusões do trabalho.

  • Recommended length: 150 to 250 words.

  • Between entre três e cinco keywords.

Manuscripts must include a title, abstract e keywords em inglês, regardless of the language of the article.

6. Manuscript Length

The a general guideline, the following lengths are recommended for submitted texts:

  • Scientific articles: between 6,000 and 8,000 words

  • Review articles: up to 8,000 words

  • Academic essays: up to 6,000 words

  • Experience reports: up to 5,000 words

The editorial team may consider exceptions based on the nature of the work.

7. Formatting and Style Guidelines

Manuscripts must observe the following basic guidelines:

  • Font: Times New Roman

  • Font size: 12 for body text and 10 for long quotations and notes

  • Line spacing: 1.5

  • Alignment: justified

  • Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides

  • Paragraph: 1.25 cm first-line indent

Quotations longer than three lines must be presented in a separate paragraph, with a left indent, smaller font, and no quotation marks.

The references bibliográficas devem seguir as normas da ABNT vigentes, listed at the end of the text in alphabetical order.

Figures, tables, and charts must include:

  • title

  • source

  • numbering

These elements must be referenced in the body of the text.

The journal will provide a manuscript formatting template, whose use is recommended when preparing the article.

8. File Formats

Manuscripts should preferably be submitted using the journal's article template, when available.

Accepted formats:

  • .doc

  • .docx

  • .odt

Manuscript Anonymization for Double-Blind Review

To ensure the integrity of the avaliação por pares double-blind process, the submitted manuscript file must not contain any authorship identification.

Authors must:

  • remove author names and institutions from the main file;

  • avoid references that allow indirect identification of authorship in the body of the text;

  • delete authorship information present in the document properties, such as author name, institution, or editing history.

The complete identification of authors must be provided exclusively in the submission metadata within the journal's system.

Manuscripts that contain authorship identification may be returned to the authors for correction before the review process begins.

9. Review Process

Manuscripts from the scientific sections are evaluated by specialist reviewers in the field, using the avaliação por pares double-blind, in which authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the entire review process.

10. Revisions

When required, authors must make adjustments and revisions in accordance with the recommendations of the reviewers and the editorial team.

The revised version must be resubmitted within the deadline established by the journal.

11. Online Submission Procedure

The submissões de manuscritos devem ser realizadas exclusivamente por meio do sistema Open Journal Systems (OJS) of the journal.

To submit a work, the author must:

  1. Access the journal's system via the submission link.

  2. If not yet registered, create a new user account in the system.

  3. Registered users should log in using their username and password.

  4. If needed, use the password recovery option available on the login page.

  5. After logging in, select the “Nova Submissão”.

  6. Check the submission requirements indicated by the system.

  7. Upload the main manuscript file, with no authorship identification.

  8. Fill in the submission metadata, incluindo title, abstract, keywords e informações dos autores.

  9. Complete the submission and wait for the automatic confirmation sent by email by the system.

After the process is completed, the manuscript will go through the editorial and scientific review stages, conforme a política editorial of the journal.

1. Scope

LUPAA Journal publishes scientific works in the areas of urbanism, architecture, cultural heritage, arts, and related interdisciplinary fields, fostering dialogue between academic research, critical reflection, and professional practice.

the work is inédito e não está em avaliação por outro periódico;

all authors agree to the submission;

the text complies with the normas of the journal.

3. Submission

Submissions are accepted exclusively through the sistema Open Journal Systems.

The corresponding author must:

enter complete manuscript metadata;

informar ORCID of all authors;

declare funding sources, when applicable;

confirm agreement with the políticas editoriais da revista;

anexar main file with no authorship identification, garantindo a avaliação duplo-cega.
